Disability Services

The University of Connecticut is committed to achieving equal educational opportunity and full participation for persons with disabilities. It is the policy that no qualified person be excluded from participating in any University program or activity or otherwise be subjected to discrimination with regard to any University program or activity. This policy derives from the commitment to non-discrimination for all persons in employment, access to facilities, student programs, activities and services.

The Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) engages in a deliberative, interactive process with each student to determine if a student qualifies as a student with a disability and to identify appropriate academic adjustments, and/or auxiliary aids and services on an individualized, case-by-case, course-by-course basis. Depending on the nature and functional limitations of a student’s documented disability, they may be eligible for academic adjustments and/or auxiliary aids and services (referred to as accommodations). Accommodations are determined on a class-by-class basis and dependent upon the nature of each course and the method of instruction as it relates to the student’s documented disability. Accommodations can be requested through the Center for Students with Disabilities.
