Learn About Yourself

Before you choose a major or career, you need to know yourself. You should be able to articulate to an employer who you are as a person; what is important to you in life; and to identify your personality preferences, interests, skills, and values.

  • What kind of careers might you enjoy? Take the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) to identify your personality preferences. This test is available by appointment only. Make an appointment with the career counselor in the Career Development Office.  After the instrument is scored, you will receive an professional interpretation and receive a packet of information on careers that match well with your personality type.
  • How can you find a career direction that best fits who you are?

    Identify your interests.
    Assess your skills
    Clarify your values: find out what is important to you in career and life planning.

     

    Go to  HuskyCareerPrep, then “Quick Profile” to to take a short inventory to identify professions that are a good fit with your values, interests, and personality.
