About UConn Waterbury

The University of Connecticut's Waterbury campus serves approximately 900 students annually from the greater Naugatuck Valley region. In its sixty years of operation, UConn Waterbury has opened the doors to educational access and excellence to thousands of Connecticut residents, many of whom have distinguished themselves in the fields of community service, business, education, law and politics. Today, the campus is located in a modern, state-of-the art facility in the heart of downtown Waterbury.
 

Meeting the Needs of Today's Students

Students at UConn Waterbury have a variety of education options.

Undergraduate students may complete one of the following four-year degrees at the Waterbury campus, or by combining course offerings at UConn's Greater Hartford, Torrington and Waterbury locations:

American Studies
Business & Technology
Human Development & Family Studies
Psychology
Urban & Community Studies


As an undergraduate student enrolled at UConn Waterbury, you can also complete the first two years of study that are required for most of the more than 100 undergraduate academic majors that UConn offers. Typically, once you have completed 54 credits (two years of full-time study) of core curriculum course work in Waterbury, you can transition to the Storrs campus to complete your bachelor's degree.

Non-traditional students - people who are returning to college - have the option to pursue the Bachelor of General Studies degree at UConn's Waterbury campus.

Graduate students may pursue the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Waterbury campus. Graduate programs leading to a Master's of Social Work (MSW) and Master's Degree in Nursing (MS) are also available at UConn Waterbury.
 

Life on Campus

Students at UConn Waterbury enjoy smaller classes and a more intimate campus environment. With a low student to faculty ratio, students are able to engage in frequent classroom discussions with the school's distinguished faculty. Professors come from diverse academic backgrounds and are actively involved in scholarly research. Many serve as student advisors and mentors. Uconn Waterbury offers a variety of campus resources and support services. Students can use the library, writing center, math center, peer tutoring assistance, computer labs and counseling services.

Student life at UConn Waterbury is active and diverse. It is an important part of the student's college experience. Students can become involved in student government and other leadership opportunities. They can join a club or participate in an array of student activities and off-campus events.
