Service Learning

Service Learning is a course that blends community service with instruction/reflection to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen community.

For more information, contact Dr. Ruth Glasser, Urban Community Studies:  ruth.glasser@uconn.edu

How service learning differs from volunteering:

It is an actual course for credit.

The service work is directly related to what is being taught, read, and discussed in the particular class.

How this class will benefit you:

You can learn to be a contributing citizen and community member.

You can create service projects in areas such as education, public safety, and the environment.

How to find a service learning opportunity:

Ask your professors if they offer service learning opportunities in their classes.
