The 2018-2019 scholarship application for both Incoming and Current Waterbury Campus students will be available on Friday, December 15, 2017. Below is a list of the available Waterbury Campus Scholarships.

 

INCOMING FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIPS

Rose Finkelstein Scholarships

Deadline: March 2, 2018

Eligibility: Awarded to seniors, from the public high schools of Waterbury, who will be entering the University of Connecticut at Waterbury as full-time students for the 2017-2018 academic year. Students applying from Kaynor Tech and the Waterbury Magnet School must be Waterbury residents. The award will be based on financial need, character, and scholarship.
Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a school administrator or teacher.
Value: Up to two awards of $1,000.00.

Value: Up to two awards of $800.00 each.

The Katherine Hill Pomeroy Scholarships

Deadline: March 2, 2018

Eligibility: Awarded to Connecticut high school seniors who will be entering the University of Connecticut at Waterbury as full-time students for the 2017-2018 academic year. The award will be based on financial need, character, and achievement.
Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a school administrator or teacher.

Value: Up to seven awards of $1,500.00

 

CURRENT STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Alphonse Avitabile & Dr. Martin DeSomma Scholarships

Deadline: February 16, 2018

Eligibility: Awarded to a Freshman at the Waterbury UConn campus who will be continuing at the Waterbury UConn campus as a full-time student in the fall 2018 semester and will be continuing as a full-time student in Spring 2019. The awards will be based on academic achievement and financial need.
Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a part-time or full-time faculty member at the Waterbury Campus.

Value: Up to two awards of $800.00 each.

The Katherine Hill Pomeroy Scholarships

Deadline: February 16, 2018

Eligibility: Based on academic achievement, financial need, and community service. Applicants must be matriculated Waterbury Campus students, who have completed at least 12 credits at this campus, and who will be continuing at the Waterbury Campus of the University of Connecticut as a full-time student in the fall 2018 semester and will be continuing as a full-time student in Spring 2019.

Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a part-time or full-time faculty member at the Waterbury Campus.

Value: Up to three awards of $2,500.00

The Waterbury Campus Scholarship

Deadline: February 16, 2018

Eligibility: The criteria that are considered are academic achievement, financial need, and extracurricular activities related to school, church, and community service. Awards are made on a competitive basis so a student need not be strong in all three categories to apply. Applicants must be a current Waterbury Campus degree student who has completed a minimum of 36 credits at the Waterbury Campus and who will be continuing at the University of Connecticut the following academic year.

Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a part-time or full-time faculty member at the Waterbury Campus.

Value: Up to two awards of $800.00 each.

ABURDENE FAMILY Scholarship in Memory of Olga and Felix Aburdene

Deadline: February 16, 2018

Source: Established through the generous contribution of the Aburdene Family.

Eligibility: Awarded to an undergraduate Waterbury Campus student(s) registered at least half-time at the University of Connecticut at Waterbury in the fall 2018 semester and will be continuing as a full-time student in Spring 2019. The award will be based on FINANCIAL NEED, ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, and COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. From those candidates that meet these criteria, priority will be given to first generation college students planning to enroll at the Waterbury Campus. These are renewable scholarships provided above criteria is met.
Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a part-time or full-time faculty member at the Waterbury Campus.

Value: Up to two awards of $1,000.00.

ABURDENE FAMILY Scholarship Honoring Phillip Benevento

Deadline: February 16, 2018

Source: Established through the generous contribution of the Aburdene Family.

Eligibility: Awarded to an undergraduate student(s) registered at least half-time at the University of Connecticut at Waterbury in the fall 20178semester and will be continuing as a full-time student in Spring 2019. The award will be based on FINANCIAL NEED, ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, and COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. From those candidates that meet these criteria, priority will be given to students taking coursework in the humanities or social sciences at the Waterbury Campus. These are renewable scholarships provided above criteria is met.
Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a part-time or full-time faculty member at the Waterbury Campus.

Value: Up to two awards of $500.00.

Eligibility: Awarded to an undergraduate student(s) registered at least half-time at the University of Connecticut at Waterbury in the fall 2018 semester and will be continuing as a full-time student in Spring 2019. The award will be based on FINANCIAL NEED. The scholarship may be renewed annually provided satisfactory academic progress is achieved and all criteria specified above continue to be met.
Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a part-time or full-time faculty member at the Waterbury Campus.

Value: Up to one award of $1,000.00.

The award will be based on ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT. The scholarship may be renewed annually provided satisfactory academic progress is achieved and all criteria specified above continue to be met.
Recommendation: One letter of recommendation from a part-time or full-time faculty member at the Waterbury Campus.
