Featured Leadership Opportunities
Dean’s Advisory Council
The Dean’s Advisory Council provides UConn Waterbury students and OLLI members with the opportunity to share their perspectives with campus leadership, help shape campus initiatives, and build valuable leadership and career-ready skills. Members participate in quarterly advisory luncheons, collaborate on projects that enhance the student experience, and may represent the campus through outreach and communications.
Orientation Leaders
Orientation leaders play an important role in welcoming new students to the UConn community and helping them make a successful transition to college. In this leadership opportunity, students support Orientation advising and registration sessions and help new students navigate their first steps at UConn Waterbury. The role offers valuable experience in leadership, communication, and student support while building skills that are transferable to future academic and professional opportunities.
Peer Mentors
Peer Mentors for the Academic Achievement Center serve as student leaders by supporting their peers through one-on-one academic coaching. Trained undergraduate mentors help students strengthen skills such as attention management, organization, stress management, prioritization, deeper learning, and the transition to UConn. This opportunity allows mentors to make a meaningful impact while developing leadership, communication, and professional skills.
Associated Student Government
ASG offers students the opportunity to represent the student body, support campus initiatives, and serve as a voice for the community. Through leadership roles, students strengthen communication between students, campus administration, and faculty, while supporting registered clubs, organizations, educational programs, and more. This opportunity allows students to build valuable leadership, communication, advocacy, and career-ready skills while making a meaningful impact at UConn Waterbury.
WISHfest is UConn Waterbury’s flagship event in partnership with the City of Waterbury to advance educational goals, enhance the college-to-workforce pipeline, and promote partnerships within the Waterbury community. The event is centered around the promotion of innovation, sustainability, and health.
